Today I have to find papers and add citations to my new theoretical frame. It is not more around value, now it is more simply about mechanisms to make money. plus the economics of mobile apps.
1) The first thing that comes to my mind is to search for mobile apps or mobile ecosystems in the top journals from scopus
2) The second thing is to search for mechanisms to capture value or revenue models in the same scope of journals
3) The next thing I will do is to search for mobile apps and capture value / revenue model / value appropriation / value acquisition in AOM (because I want to publish in this family of journals)
4) Finally, I will search in Google Scholars to identify the most cited articles in the field.

Remember I want to tell that mobile apps collect data not because they need that to make an app but because they want to make money with it.
TF:
point one => how do mobile apps do transactions + how do mobile apps request for data and users accept to give accesses to those data + apps functionalities may use data to perform tasks for its users
point two => app developers have high competition, they are firms, amateurs, ... sometimes they want to make money from the apps. Some other times they want to launch apps related to its passions without any ambition of money.
point three => Mechanisms to make money: the mechanisms to make money are different for mobile apps because they can collect data to sell it as a new mechanism, this may happen somewhere else.

These points bring the background needed before the analysis.

This is what I have to do. Now I have to work on that during some days. I expect 4 days for point one and two, and 4 days for point three.
Additional I need to analyze the data. this is less easy because I have had done only one thing until here. I have to continue the analysis and I have to find something cool to say!
S will like to see a good analysis done, and S may have new aspects to consider, and for sure is going to say to search further..

About the analysis
Theory 1: concerning the first development of the app store. This may not be possible with our data. Because the hype already passed
I have one first idea: developers that launch apps because they are amateurs they dont make money. then they develop mechanisms due to the number of users they 've got. Plus include permissions to obtain data
Expert developers include the permissions for the data since the beginning!

Theory 2: Apps do ads and ads require data. very few apps can give you service without any exchange of money. So, really nothing is free!

===============
At the end of the day, I checked several papers (I think around 10) and I have any energy to try a new one. This was already a nice progress, but I still fell I could have done more. Several times Ive got interrupted by soccer times! I found nice papers, one explaining the logic behind app developers + insights about app economics. Other papers: addiction to apps, ways to create value with apps by firms offline, ways to create value with data. Tomorrow more reading. finishing the list of papers from scopus + mobile app + business and marketing journals. Then I will do similar research from AOM.
